CARL SARGEANT WELCOMES INVESTMENT FOR WAR MEMORIAL

Carl Sargeant Labour AM for Alyn & Deeside has joined local Councillors in welcoming news that the area surrounding Connah’s Quay & Shotton War Memorial is to benefit from a £20,000 make over as part of £250,000 of Environmental Improvement funding that has been secured for Deeside Communities.
The funding is part of the Welsh Assembly Government’s 10-year Deeside Neighbourhood Renewal Area plan, which aims to improve the environment of Shotton, Connah’s Quay and Queensferry.
The proposal’s aim to improve the area surrounding the War Memorial by providing a greener, more attractive public open space, as well as undertaking general repair works.
Carl Sargeant AM in welcoming the proposals said,
“The War Memorial is understandably an important monument for local people and I am delighted that the Welsh Government’s neighbourhood renewal funding will enable an enhancement of the area around the Cenotaph.”
Connah’s Quay Labour Councillor Aaron Shotton said,
“The inter-services committee have done a fantastic job looking after the Cenotaph over many years and it is fantastic news that the area is to be given a makeover.”
The work is expected to be undertaken by participants from the Future Jobs Fund in conjunction with local contractors
