2011 Chester Summer Music Festival - Chester BIG SING
After the success of the 2010 Chester Summer Music Festival, with sell outs, great reviews, standing ovations and artists wanting to return, Chester Festivals are really excited about the 2011 Festival this July.
In his fourth year as Artistic Director, Andrew Cornall has once again devised a fantastic programme for the festival with a real international flavour, inviting artists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Norway, Belarus and Russia. As well as the signature vocal theme with The King’s Singers and the Gabrieli Consort as highlights, there will be a focus on the violin, demonstrating an amazing repertoire encompassing the virtuosic talents of Jack Liebeck, Pavel Šporcl and Ruth Palmer. We cover jazz with the great Stefano Bollani, cabaret with Claire Martin and Richard Rodney Bennett, great choral masterpieces; and folk themes from Eastern Europe. Running through the Festival is a thread of British music culminating in our grand finale with a concert full of British masterpieces.

Exciting news… Chester will once again come alive with song! Due to popular demand the Chester BIG SING! is now a weekend long event. Hoorah! With choirs from all over the region hitting the streets of Chester to sing loud and proud, from morning till night, on Saturday AND with our sing-a-long on Sunday, there really is no excuse… the choral extravaganza that is the Chester BIG SING! is truly unmissable. We’ll see you there!
