The sixth Mold Food and Drink Festival takes place this weekend, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September, in New Street Car Park close to the town centre.  

This successful annual festival offers a fantastic mix of food, drink, live entertainment, interactive activities and much more.  Set to be the biggest yet, there will be more than 90 quality food and drink exhibitors attending this year showcasing a huge variety of produce with many offering tastings before you buy.  Michelin award-winning Celebrity Chef Jean-Christophe Novelli will take to the stage on Sunday for three cookery demonstrations and on Saturday it will be the turn of Celebrity Chefs Graham Tinsley and Brian Mellor to show off their culinary expertise with entertaining demonstrations throughout the day.  Local chef competition finals will produce winners for the titles of Flintshire Chef of the Year 2011 and Flintshire Junior Chef 2011.

The whole family can participate in some fun, foodie activities in the Interactive Zone and there will be live bands and soloists performing on the outdoor stage throughout the weekend. The festival makes a perfect family day out with lots of activities for the children including a climbing wall, rides, trampolines, face-painting and craft workshops.  The open-air courtyard is the ideal place to take some time out to relax with a drink or two and some delicious food from the wide selection on offer.  

Take advantage of the FREE Park & Ride service from County Hall to Mold. Admission: Adults £3.50, Children (3-12) £1.50, Family (2 adults/2 children) £8 The festival is open 10am-5pm daily and outdoor areas open till late on Saturday night.  

 
Festival Update
Our Celebrity Chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli, Graham Tinsley and Brian Mellor are all set for the big weekend. They’ve planned their cookery demonstrations and you are in for a treat! As well as watching these master chefs at work, you’ll pick up lots of tips and, best of all, get to taste the end result – if you’re quick! The live bands are all booked with music to suit all tastes, we have over 90 quality food and drink exhibitors already confirmed, and there are some great children’s activities lined up.

 
Foodie Film Season
Joining in with the food and drink festival theme, Clwyd Theatr Cymru is putting on a special film season with food related films for the week leading up to the festival weekend. Starting on September 20th the films include Elizabeth David:A Life in Recipes, Ratatouille, and The Cook, The Thief, his Wife and her Lover starring Michael Gambon and Helen Mirren. There’s something for adults and children in this great little foodie film season, so take a look and enjoy!
 
Beekeeper's Exhibition
New for this year will be a fascinating beekeeping exhibition and honey show run by South Clwyd and Flint & District Beekeeper Associations. See the bees at work in observation hives, sample locally produced honeys and watch a film all about beekeeping. Anyone interested in taking up beekeeping as a hobby will find lots of useful information and help from the members of both associations who will be on hand throughout the weekend.
 
 
Best of Welsh Bake-Off Competition
Can you bake a bara brith to tempt the tastebuds? There’s lots of interest so far in this competition that is being run in conjunction with the Mold WI so if you love baking and want to enter, find out all the details by clicking here. It’s so easy, just bring your entry form with your bara brith to the festival by 4pm on Saturday 24th. Judging takes place on Sunday morning and the winners will be announced and presented with their prizes by Jean-Christophe Novelli himself on Sunday afternoon. There’s still plenty of time to perfect your recipe!
