Wirral Youth Heroes Awards | Press Release – 19th March 2013 ***Nominations for Youth Heroes 2013 close on 31st March***
Youth Heroes 2013 Nominations to close on 31st March 2013
Earlier this year the organisers of the Wirral Youth Heroes Awards announced that the inspirational ceremony would become an annual event. The 2013 Wirral Youth Heroes Awards will recognise 27 young people and 3 inspirational adults at the stunning new Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on Friday, June 7, 2013.
The first awards ceremony was held in February 2012 and celebrated the achievements of some of the Wirral’s most inspirational young people. The event was a massive success, receiving high praise from politicians, press and the public, and in November 2012 the organisers Wirral YFC received the Inspire Award at the Houses of Parliament for the initiative.
The key to the awards is the community nomination process; the public get to choose who should be recognised on the night. As the founder of the awards Martin Dickson says “Wirral is home to thousands of young people who are heroes, and again we want the public’s help in finding the most inspirational from among them. We want to provide a means by which our local communities can affirm and thank these inspirational young heroes for all that they do.”
A further awards category has been added for 2013 which recognises the huge impact teachers, youth leaders, parents, guardians and mentors have on the young people of Wirral. Nominations for adults who have played an inspirational role in a young person’s life are encouraged.
This year’s categories are:
Academic Achievement | Caring for Others | Community Spirit | Contribution to the Arts Courage and Bravery | Enterprise/Fundraising | Great Sporting Achievement | Inspirational Adult Inspirational Response to Illness or Disability | Outstanding Volunteering
Making a nomination is quick and free at wirral.youthheroes.org.uk and the closing date is the 31st March 2013
