Chester Cathedral’s new Guidebooks Two new guidebooks celebrating Chester Cathedral are now available in the Cathedral Shop. A sixteen page ‘walk round’ guide to the Cathedral allows visitors to journey through the Cathedral at their own pace, exploring the building and discovering its story, especially some of the little things that are so easy to miss; it’s almost like having a personal guided tour. The larger book features an authoritative text and specially commissioned full colour photographs telling the history of the Cathedral in more detail, making it a wonderful souvenir of this great Cathedral for both visitors and locals. The guidebooks are printed by Scala, a worldwide specialist dedicated to publishing high-quality books on museums, art galleries, cathedrals, historic monuments and religious and heritage sites. Both guides are beautifully designed and will help visitors appreciate the history and beauty of this extraordinary building. The Dean of Chester was formally handed the new texts by Rosemarie McCabe of Scala at a short ceremony on Monday night; he said ‘These new guidebooks give us a fresh look at a wonderful building and its life’.
