Jeanette a trustee of Mothers' Union Chester Diocese and a Worldwide Members Representative  for York Province, I have hosen to complete  a marathon with a difference, to raise funds and awareness for the work of the worldwide projects that Mothers' Union undertakes as we provide Christian care for families.  Projects like the one in Ethiopia which supplies cooking pots to families arriving at the refugee camps from nearby Sudan. Or the project in Ethiopia which has enabled Mothers' Union learners to gain literacy skills, this has resulted in improved crop yields as they can read the instructions on the seed packets. With their surplus income they have bought cups and plates and are hiring these out for weddings and social events, bringing in further income to help support their community.


Cakes for cups and cooking pots

So on July 10th I will bake 1,000 cakes at my local church centre kitchen, starting at about 5.30am and start to sell these 1,000 cakes from 10.30 am St Michael & All Angels Church West Kirby CH48 6EP

Each day, across the world, woman in disadvantaged communties complete their own marathon as they walk to collect water and firewood to cook their only hot meal of the day. I am only doing this once.
