Nightingale House Hospice

Nightingale House is thrilled to announce their plans of hosting the ‘Wrexham Food Festival’ on Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th May 2012, in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council and Northern Marches Cymru

The two day extravaganza will be held on Llwyn Isaf (The Library Field) Wrexham, and will include stalls and demonstrations from many different local food and drink businesses.

It is hoped the Wrexham Food Festival will attract new people to Wrexham and raise the profile of locally produced food, whilst raising valuable funds for the Hospice.

Leigh Myers is the Executive Chef for the Nelson Hotel Group, which includes the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa Nr Chester, The Pheasant Inn at Higher Burwardsley, The Bears Paw at Warmington and The Fishpool in Delamere.

Leigh is going to be one of the Chefs involved in the Live Cooking demonstrations in the Wrexham Food Festival on 12 & 13 May 2012

Local businesses already include Wrexham Lager, Orchard Pigs, French Flavour, Rosie’s Triple D Cider, Aballu Chocolatier, Seren Foods, Just Tea and Coffee, Clear black wine, the Ultimate Fudge company, Taste of Anglesy (ice cream), Caws Cenarth Cheese, Rustic Chefs, and Llangollen Brewery.

Entry to the festival will be £3.00 per head (£2.00 concessions) and will include entry to the Live cookery demonstrations featuring, Leigh Myers, Executive Head Chef, Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa; and Graham Tinsley, Executive Head Chef, Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa.

The Food Festival has generated a lot of interest both locally and further afield. Kim Sheridan, owner of Wrexham based, ‘Just Tea & Coffee’ which produces and sells Wrexham’s own blend of tea and coffee, and Robert Didier at Orchard Pigs, a family run artisan bakery specialising in meat pies, are amongst those supporting the Wrexham Food Festival 2012.

We hope the two day event will be a great addition to both the local area and Nightingale House Hospice. Any producers wishing have a stall at this new and exciting event, please contact Laura Parry on 01978 314292. For further details of this event you can also visit www.wrexhamfoodfest.co.uk

In 2012 it will cost £2.54 million to run Nightingale House Hospice. This equates to nearly £7000 per day. Only 19% of this comes from the Local Health Board, which is only enough funding to support the Hospice for 69 days, we therefore greatly rely on the generosity of the communities we serve to raise the additional funding for the remaining 296 days of the year.

Local Supporters of The Wrexham Food Festival 2012
Kim Sheridan of Just Tea and Coffee and Robert Didier of Orchard Pigs are just two of the exhibitors that will be attending the Wrexham Food Festival 2012.

Wales Rugby League ticketing supports Hospice
As a build up to the Rugby League World Cup in 2013, Wales Rugby League have announced their 2012 international schedule, which will commence with a one-off test match against France at the Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium in Wrexham on Saturday 16 June at 2.30pm.

Wales Rugby League have again nominated Nightingale House Hospice as their chosen Charity Partner. As such, Nightingale House Hospice is selling tickets to the Wales v France game with £1 for each ticket sold being donated to Hospice.

"We are encouraging people to book early and take advantage of the early bird prices. It's a great opportunity to support Wales in what promises to be a great game, and support the Hospice at the same time" said Caroline Siddall, Income Generation Director.

The Hospice will also be selling their own Welsh merchandise at the match, as well as replica shirts on behalf of Wales Rugby League, which is also a funds raising exercise.

Mark Rowley from Wales Rugby League added "The boys are proud to be wearing the Nightingale House logo on their shirts and raising funds to help the local community."

Tickets are available from the Nightingale House Hospice website or from the Income Generation Office (9am–5pm, Mon–Fri). There is an early bird price available until 31 May.
