High Demand for Olympic Torch Celebration Tickets
There has been a high demand for the free tickets to attend the Olympic Torch Celebration at Chester Racecourse on May 29th.
Cheshire West and Chester Council says the initial allocation of twenty one thousand tickets is expected to be taken up soon and the ticket line allocating the remaining tickets will close.
Council event organisers expect a limited number of further tickets to become available if the Olympic partners do not take up their full allocation but precise numbers will not be known until closer to the event.
In addition an appeal will be made to members of the public who on the day may not need their full household allocation of six tickets. These can be returned to your local library distribution point and will be included in a further allocation round to ensure their use.
Dates for when both sets of tickets will become available will be announced at a later date.
Councillor Stuart Parker, Executive Member for Culture and Recreation said: “I am delighted in the level of interest people have shown right across the borough in the Torch Celebration event and it looks as though we are guaranteed maximum attendance on the night.
“People also need to remember that the Racecourse is not the only place to see the torch with other superb vantage points along the route into and through the City. “

With 7 races, Roman displays and free family entertainment, Roman day is sure to be a fantastic family day out.
Gates open at 11.30am, and The Devil's Horsemen Stunt Team will be providing entertainment on the Open Course throughout the afternoon, with Chariot Racing at 1.20pm and death-defying stunt ridng at 3.35pm. There will also two Gladiator battles at 2.35pm and 4.45pm, along with Roman Legionnaires who will be patroling the Paddock throughout the day.
In addition there will be a host of free children's activities on the Open Course throughout the day including interactive Roman workshops, Mr Alexander's Travelling Show ,bouncy castles and face painters.

England Polo team to play first ever International at Chester Racecourse Polo Club - 8th September
It was officially announced today, the England Polo team will play South America at Chester Racecourse Polo Club on 8th September. The game is the third in the season of an all new Audi International Series. The new venue for the series is likely to become a popular highlight in the Chester social season.
Richard Thomas, Chief Executive of Chester Racecourse, says: "We feel privileged that our Polo Club has been selected as the new venue to host an Audi International for the upcoming season. This will allow a new audience to witness and enjoy the thrills of International Polo - we're confident it will become a highlight on the Chester social calendar attracting large numbers."
The investment by Audi in the International Polo Series, together with its existing sponsorship of the England Polo team, will make the car company the biggest supporter of polo in the UK.
"The additional Audi-supported match days will allow us to organise - for the first time ever - an exciting and more cohesive programme of Internationals during the England polo season up and down the country. We are delighted with the addition of the Audi International at Chester. Audi's investment also gives us the opportunity of providing first class training programmes and facilities not only for the top England professionals but also young rising stars of the sport via its support for Pony Club Polo," comments David Woodd of the HPA.
